Southwestern College Library has locations at the Chula Vista campus and the three Higher Education Centers in National City, Otay Mesa, and San Ysidro. The main Library is in the Learning Resource Center (Building 64) on the Chula Vista campus. The Library's collection includes print and digital resources, featuring a print collection containing over 85,000 books and digital content consisting of eBooks, magazines, newspapers, peer-reviewed articles, academic journals, and streaming media. The entire collection is available to current Southwestern College students, staff, faculty, and adult residents of San Diego County.
The Library provides a quiet place for study, reflection, and collaboration. Services include study rooms, interlibrary loans from other libraries, internet access, computer use, printing, and scanning. Students can access computers with specialized software on the Library's top floor. In addition, the Library has a study room designated to accommodate students with disabilities.
Librarians are available during open hours; individual appointments can be in-person or via Zoom. Instructors can schedule customized library and research instruction for their classes. Credit courses (LIB 110) and (LIB 151) are available in the fall and spring semesters.
The mission of the Southwestern College Library is to contribute to and support learners by identifying, organizing, preserving, and making accessible resources that support the college curriculum and general enrichment for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
