About Us

The Career and Transfer Connections office is here to help students understand the relationship between majors, careers, and transferring to a 4-yr college/ university. Our services include career exploration, learning how majors are connected to industry, internships and work experience, job preparation, transfer awareness and planning, and career and transfer counseling. The Career and Transfer Connections office is a critical resource to help students connect the classes they take to their career and transfer goals. We are located in the Cesar E. Our Services

Career Connections

Experienced career and academic counselors are available for individual career planning and exploration. Access to various career assessment tools designed to help students explore their interests, personality type, skill sets, and study skills are available along with a variety of resources and services such as:

  • Steps to choosing a major
  • Individualized career planning and exploration using career assessment tools
  • Monthly workshops focusing on various career and job preparation topics
  • Career readiness workshops

Student Employment Services and Work Experience Education

Student Employment Services provides students access to programming and resources designed to help students make more informed career decisions. The types of programming and services include the following:

  • Access to workshop topics that cover resume, cover letter, interviewing tips, techniques, and strategies
  • Online professional profile development using LinkedIn
  • Internship and job searching using Handshake, a 
  • One-on-one appointments that cover individualized support on career readiness that includes job searching on and off campus
  • Employer engagement and networking opportunities
  • Job fairs and Career Expos

Work Experience Education programming, in coordination with Student Employment Services, pairs students with host professionals from business, government, and non-profit work environments.  Students are exposed to real-world experiences by participating in daily workplace activities and learning how to navigate within workplace cultures.  Students earn college credit and acquire on-the-job skills while applying what they have learned in the classroom. Work Experience also helps students make effective career choices and develop lifetime career plans. 

Transfer Connections

Transfer Connections offers students access to resources and tools to help students make more informed decisions about transferring to four year colleges and universities. These services include the following: 

  • One-on-one transfer counseling appointments designed to align academic course work with transfer success
  • Workshop topics that include information on transfer planning, application support, and researching college and universities
  • Transfer Fairs and college/ university representative connections
  • College Tours
