Designed to prepare students to diagnose, service, repair, and adjust Brake, Suspension, and steering systems on passenger vehicles and light duty trucks. All instruction meets or exceeds ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) standards. Program completion will prepare students for employment in local and national chains specializing in “under car” service. This program is intentionally designed as a direct assessment, competency-based education program which allows students to complete instructional requirements and to demonstrate mastery in knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to the program and the automotive industry at their own pace and with individualized support that matches their abilities and needs.

To enroll in the Automotive Brake and Suspension Systems (ABS And Four-Wheel Alignment) Direct Assessment Competency-Based Education program (CBE01), students are required to submit the CCCApply application to declare the program as their intended program of study. Students are required to complete an online orientation and to meet with a SWC counselor prior to enrollment in the program. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a "competency transcript" listing all program competencies and the level of mastery earned for each. In addition, students will receive a traditional transcript indicating the credit courses deemed equivalent to the direct assessment program.
