The Associate in Arts in American Sign Language provides students with a comprehensive foundation in ASL communication, Deaf culture, and linguistic principles. This program prepares students to engage meaningfully with the Deaf community and pursue advanced study or career pathways in fields requiring ASL proficiency. The AA includes specialized instruction in fingerspelling, numbering systems, and depiction techniques—skills essential for effective, nuanced communication in diverse settings.

- Initiate, sustain and close a variety of uncomplicated interpersonal and interpretive communicative tasks in American Sign Language, and handle social situations in a culturally sensitive and collegial manner.

Students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university should complete courses required for the university major and the general education pattern required by that transfer institution. Additional courses may be required to meet university lower-division requirements. Courses in this program may meet General Education.
