CAMPUS NEWSPAPER PRODUCTION I

Provides a student media practicum in print and online journalism that includes lecture and lab components. Produces a student-developed campus newspaper (The Southwestern College Sun, currently America's #1-ranked collegiate publication) on a regular basis, and produces periodically a student-developed feature non-fiction magazine (El Sol Magazine) with a journalism emphasis that are both distributed to a campus and community audience. Allows for participation on the Editorial Board which is entirely responsible for weekly and daily news and feature assignments. Affords the opportunity to generate story and visual elements for upcoming issues of the newspaper. Includes practical experience in layout, design, multiple writing approaches, photography, online, multimedia journalism and emerging technologies. [D; CSU; C-ID JOUR 130]
