Student Transfer Achievement Reform (STAR) Act (SB1440)

Transfer Preparation* (Major Code: 01281)
Prepares students who are pursuing careers in the film, television, and media industry as cinematographers, editors, camera operators, sound designers, and screen writers in the areas of entertainment, public relations, education, corporate, government, and health fields.
Students will learn to develop needs analysis, project proposal writing, screenwriting, marketing, graphic design, video production, and video post-production as applied to the production of video media, including instructional/training, non-fictional, multi-camera broadcast, and fictional narrative for all platforms including streaming and podcast.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Through the creation of a Production Book students will be able to comprehensively present the concepts and designs for a three to five minute short film to their crew prior to undertaking the production.
- By undertaking a comprehensive video production students will participate in a collaborative environment that promotes the sharing and evaluation of creative contributions.
- Students will demonstrate their understanding of fundamental pre-production, production and post-production concepts by completing a three to five minute video project which will integrate camera, lighting, sound and editing techniques.
The following is required for all AA-T or AS-T degrees:
- Completion of minimum 60 semester or 90 quarter units of transferable degree applicable courses.
- Minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU transferable coursework.
- Minimum 18 semester or 27 quarter units in major or area of emphasis with a minimum grade of “C” (or “Pass”) for each course in the major.
- Completion of the California State University General Education (CSU GE) Breadth pattern or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) pattern.
