Foster Youth Programs
Next UP & Guardian Scholars Programs
The Next UP and Guardian Scholar Program (GSP) programs serve current and former foster youth students at Southwestern College by providing support, motivation, and resources. We collaborate with many student support programs and community resources on and off campus to meet the academic goals of former foster youth students.
Eligibility for the Next UP Program?
- Meets eligibility for the EOPS program
- Be a California Resident
- No older than 26 years of age at the start of the academic year
- Eligible for California College Promise Grant (CCPG): Method A1-A3, B, or C
- Be a current or Former Foster Youth from the ages of 13-18 (provide a ward of court verification letter)
- Enroll in two or more units
Eligibility for the GSP Program?
- Be a California Resident
- No older than 30 years of age at the start of the academic year
- Eligible for California College Promise Grant (CCPG): Method A1-A3, B, or C
- Be a current or Former Foster Youth (provide a ward of court verification letter)
- Enroll in two or more units
