The Alcohol and Other Drug Studies Program prepares students for employment in various substance abuse treatment settings and to obtain California state certification as a drug and alcohol counselor. The Alcohol and Other Drug Studies Program facilitates and enhances student learning in a supportive environment through a comprehensive education program utilizing academic courses and field placement experiences.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to describe and apply major concepts, theories, principles, and issues related to the treatment of individuals with chemical dependency.
  • Students will be able to gather and assess data related to individuals with chemical dependency issues in order to diagnose them and provide appropriate treatment approach.

Gainful Employment

The U.S. Department of Education requires colleges to disclose a variety of information for any financial aid eligible program that “prepares students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation.”

Students who complete this program will have acquired the necessary analytical tools to successfully secure gainful employment in the field of study.
