Designed to prepare students at the apprentice level in the field of Commercial Music. The Commercial Music program offers students the basic foundation in the various careers and business practices of the music industry such as: music performance in rock/pop/jazz bands, lead and backup singing, music sales, music publishing, studio recording, DJ, and sound reinforcement.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental aspects and principles of music and the music industry, including but not limited to: music theory, notation, performance practices, publishing, royalties, and contracts.
- Students will be able to perform and demonstrate their understanding of working in partnership with people at different levels and proficiencies.
Gainful Employment
The U.S. Department of Education requires colleges to disclose a variety of information for any financial aid eligible program that “prepares students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation.”
Students who complete this program will have acquired the necessary analytical tools to successfully secure gainful employment in the field of study.
