The Web Shopping Cart Developer program prepares students to work across industries. The curriculum is designed to provide the learner with industry best practices, strategies, and technical foundation necessary for entry level employment. Emphasizes development of web page creation, open source and proprietary storefront platform cloud configuration and support, database user interface and query scripting, checkout and payment integration, gateways and shipping methods integration, storefront creation and maintenance, and reporting. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible for entry-level employment as ecommerce associate developers, ecommerce shopping cart solutions technicians, and ecommerce technical support specialists.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  • Create an online catalog of items for sale to include name, image, description, and price.
  • Test the online shopping cart functions for quality control to include effective solutions for inventory, price calculation, payment method on each customer order.
  • Simulate work in a web design studio; will work with colleagues and customers in a professional manner with a service attitude.
  • Research current techniques using open-source software for building an online shopping cart and will write a report evaluating the feasibility of using this technique in the office.
